Guatemala's children suffer from the highest rate of chronic malnutrition in all of Latin America, 68% of indiginous women are illiterate, the average indiginous woman gives birth to 8 children, and pneumonia is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 5.

PEOPLE FOR GUATEMALA wants to break this vicious cycle of poverty by working hand-in-hand in partnership with the indigenous Mayans in rural mountain communities.  We engage the people to participate in projects to improve their health, self-esteem and overall well-being.  At the same time they learn skills and strategies to promote sustainable development.

We create alliances with established organizations in Guatemala and in the U.S. to address the most basic needs of the people to improve their quality of life. We build water systems, construct houses and schools, conduct medical clinics, install low-smoke, vented stoves, and install water filters.

People for Guatemala, Inc. is a 501c3 U.S.-based
 not-for-profit charity.
We are an all-volunteer organization.

Our Mission
